Going out of my comfort zone, this project pushed me to explore the Arduino ecosystem, its hardware and associated IDE as the main prototyping tool. As a work of Critical & Speculative Design addressing how time is perceived, it includes the historical, philosophical, cultural, linguistical implications of time and time-telling devices into a prototype that aims to challenge how we perceive the passing/spending of 'Private' and 'Public' Time.

In conducting tasks such as:

  • Research Critique of existing pieces of Critical/Speculative Design

    • 100 Chairs in 100 Days by Martino Gamper

  • Artefact Analysis of a pilot's wristwatch (Stowa Type-B)

  • Applying ______ to Artefact

    • Creative Templates

    • Interaction Relabelling

    • Designing for Extreme Characters

A collaborative effort, I lead the development of the concept and provided domain knowledge required to design, iterate, and build a prototype that adhered to this statement of design intent:

The resulting prototype was pitched as a Kickstarter campaign which we create a process-focused pitch deck accompanied by visual collaterals, campaign videos and photos. As attached below:

"We want to protect the knowledge of time from external forces because it's important that one develops their own view of time external from the public’s perception of it."

The Final Design Report, inclusive of the above creative methods a detailed logbook, interviews, and playtest of the prototype alongside Kickstarter Presentation can be downloaded under the "Downloads" aside.
